Care Point Denman welcomes a Registered Clinical Counsellor Yukiko Matsu-Pissot, MA, LMHC, RCC

Yukiko Matsu-Pissot, M.A., LMHC, RCC is a Registered Clinical Counsellor in BC as well as a Licensed Mental Health Counsellor in Washington State.  She has been offering clinical counselling for the past 17 years for adults, is fluent in English and Japanese, and offers individual counselling as well as couple counselling.

Ms. Matsu-Pissot has been in private practice since 2002 and recently left a clinical counselling and an adjunct faculty position at a mental health clinic at the University of Washington in Seattle where she worked since 1997.

The mental health issues that Ms. Matsu-Pissot has experience in treating include:

  • anxiety and depression:  general anxiety, panic attacks, agoraphobia, social anxiety, depression and seasonal affective disorder
  • stress related problems and stress management
  • cultural concerns: identity and multicultural relationship or familial concerns
  • relationship problems
  • life transitions:  marriage, divorce, new parents, empty nest, retirement, relocation, study/work abroad, immigration, job loss and job change
  • grief and bereavement

The patient population that Ms. Matsu-Pissot has experience in treating are:

  • General English speaking adult population:  80% or more of her clients have been English speaking North Americans.
  • Japanese speaking:  ESL students, University students, graduate students, community college students, working holiday, Japanese workers stationed abroad, Japanese workers and graduate students’ wives
  • Japanese-Canadians or Japanese-American, and Canadians and Americans of Asian heritage
  • Couples who are in multi-cultural relationships and marriages: especially when one of the partners is of Japanese heritage
  • International students from a wide range of countries of origin
